Depo Lesnaya will hold free breast exams on October 19 and 20

18 October 2019

The DEPO Lesnaya food market, which is owned by the Kievskaya Ploshchad Group of Companies, will host an event together with a cancer research foundation to promote the prevention and diagnosis of breast cancer on October 19 and 20, 2019.

In honor of World Breast Cancer Day, women over the age of 18 will be able to undergo a free mammogram at a mobile unit at the market that has all the necessary medical equipment. They will also be able to consult with oncologists and to learn how to reduce the risk of a malignant tumor as well as how to protect themselves in the future. The event will be held at DEPO Lesnaya, which is located on Lesnaya Street 20, Building 4 in Moscow.

The main goal of the event is to draw attention to the issue of breast cancer, to increase the level of awareness concerning the need for regular exams, and to draw attention to the foundation's activities.

A Russian charity foundation for cancer research is organizing the event. The foundation is the first non-governmental, non-profit organization in Russia that creates and develops new technologies and innovative methods to fight cancer. It supports research centers, medical institutions, and groups of scientists who study the cause and treatment of cancer. The fund's main objective is not as much to fight the consequences of cancer but to eradicate the cause of the disease entirely by determining the causes of tumors and developing effective preventive actions.

The event is also being supported by IVA Technologies, a Russian manufacturer of solutions based on artificial intelligence and neural networks. The company is currently developing an innovative product that will enable women to examine themselves for breast cancer at home. The device will use neural networks to allow for independent evaluation and screening of the mammary glands without having to visit a medical institution.
